used to use 3DSimEd + *.scn file editing to remove objects from rF1 tracks, is there a similar procedure possible in rF2? what program do you use to open/view/edit the rF2 track *.rfcmp file pls?

you can install the rfcmp, then go to your rfactor2 data folder and go to the installed folder, in there you will find tracks, cars, sounds and so on. Go to locations, track-folder, version folder and in there you should see mft and mas files. You can extract the mas files with mas2.exe

You find the mas2.exe in your rF2 install\Support\Tools

When you've extracted the mas files you should be able to load up and scn file in 3Dsimed 3.0x but don't qoute me on that.
